Choose from a selection of kite and windsurfing, a variety of water sports for example, canoeing, kayaking, surfing, rubber duck races, boat trips out to sea and around Dassen Island. For fishermen there are great spots for fishing. Yzerfontein´s waters are known for its abundance of snoek and crayfish. Get a permit, hire a boat and catch your own dinner. The 16 mile white sand beach and Schaap Island along Yzerfontein´s coast are popular hiking trail spots. Hike along the waterfront and view the indigenous fynbos vegetation.

You will find something in blossom at any time of year, but the best flowering occurs during late winter and spring - between July and November.

A variety of flowers can be found, the fynbos along the streets, on Schaap Island and in the town gardens. An indigenous garden has been established in town for visitors. During the flower season a flower trail called Bokbaaivygie trail has been created, just outside of town. Here you can walk among the Bokbaaivygies and other wild flowers. The Blombos hiking trail on a local farm also provides an opportunity to see many indigenous flowers in season.
